About This Place

Baja Mar Seafood Market & Restaurant, located at 3541 S 12th Ave in Tucson, AZ, is a vibrant dining destination that masterfully celebrates the best of Mexican seafood cuisine alongside hearty traditional dishes. This gem offers a welcoming atmosphere where freshness and flavor come alive in every bite, perfect for both devoted seafood lovers and those seeking familiar, comforting Mexican fare.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by a clean, bright space with friendly, attentive staff who make you feel valued whether it’s a quiet solo meal or a lively family outing. Baja Mar’s menu is a feast for the senses, brimming with mouthwatering options that will ignite your cravings. From the zesty tang of their Micheladas and Campechana Cocktail to the crisp, refreshing burst of their Raw Oysters, the diversity on offer is impressive and thoughtfully curated.

The true stars are undoubtedly their celebrated tostadas, a must-try highlight at Baja Mar. Dive into the Shrimp Ceviche Tostada, bursting with fresh, tangy ceviche that dances on your tongue or savor the Tostada Cachoreada — a decadent combination of mayonnaise, shrimp, uncooked shrimp, avocado, and scallop, layered to perfection for $12.00. If you prefer something with a little heat, the Tostada Yaqui, an Aguachile-style hot tostada, offers a fiery kick that awakens and excites the palate. Each tostada delivers a unique textural play — crispy, creamy, and fresh — that is both satisfying and unforgettable.

If tacos are more your style, their Shrimp Tacos and Taco Mixto come highly recommended by guests who note the generous portions and authentic flavor profiles. The Shrimp Tacos, priced at $5 each, feature juicy, succulent shrimp tucked into soft tortillas, paired beautifully with homemade salsa and guacamole that add richness and a slight citrusy lift. Meanwhile, dishes like Camarones Divorciados or Camaron Veracruzana showcase the kitchen’s expert handling of shrimp, blending bold spices and fresh ingredients into dishes that transport you straight to the coast.

Complement your meal with sides like the perfectly fluffy Rice, creamy Guacamole, or the crispy French Fries, and quench your thirst with their naturally sweet Aguas Frescas such as Horchata or vibrant Lemonade and Jamaica. Baja Mar also offers a variety of Mexican sodas and fountain drinks to round out your dining experience.

What really shines beyond the food is the palpable warmth and genuine hospitality that customers consistently rave about. E Jones was impressed by the staff’s attentiveness, remarking how solo dining still felt like a full celebration at their table. Raul Ramos highlights not just the impeccable food quality but also the comfortable, spotless ambiance and courteous service that elevate each visit. People who told me to come and try it were right! It's delicious! Super friendly staff. It was just me, between working hours, but they catered to me as if I was with a full table! I stared at the menu with my mouth watering! Too many delicious choices! Give it a try! And if you have a picky eater that won't eat seafood, their other options look amazing, too! If you are lucky, you'll hear some music too! I came for lunch on a Saturday

The food is excellent. Both the traditional Mexican food dishes and the seafood dishes are amazing! Comfortable Atmosphere and very clean. The staff are professional and polite. A little pricey but not overpriced. Worth every dollar and portions are good too

Food was great!! Your dining comes with chips and salsa. Our server was very attentive the restaurant was well kept. All the seafood that we ate were very fresh. The raw shrimp and fish were not fishy at all.

It's absolutely delicious , for a family of six, we spent $68, and our tummies are very, very full . If you are looking for something delicious, I would definitely eat the shrimp tacos or the taco mixto; it's $5 each for the shrimp tacos or $6 for the taco mixto also let me add that the tosadas de ceviche estan muy ricos . I have traveled and tried many places, and by far, this place is absolutely the best on my list.

I went in on a Sunday morning. I called ahead to check on wait time. They assured me there was no wait and were really friendly over the phone. I arrived and no wait at all. Everyone works in a really fast fashion and they’re all so friendly. A lot of seating space, great drinks and food. I ordered chilaquiles only vegetarian option I found on menu. The papas and beans were delicious. The house salsa is to die for, I haven’t had one like it yet. Oh and let’s not forget the michelada was the best.

My mom and I had a blast having our lunch at Baja Mar, which was highly recommended by my hairdresser. It was such an experience. The ambience and food were great. Best food we’ve been to in Tucson for an Authentic Mexican cuisine. The only thing was that I got charged for a dish that I canceled repeatedly from two of the service attendants. I speak little to no spanish, I recommend using google translate. I didn’t think of it until after the fact.

Mariscos Bajamar food is good but the service is average or maybe below average. We ordered a shrimp ceviche tostada, a taco grande and toritaco. The ceviche is ok but not by itself, you have to add lime, salt and hot sauce to make it good; the taco grande was very good but a bit dry (lot's of food) and the toritaco was ok. Hard time getting refills and food took a long time to be served.
